Medical Devices
Throughout my path, I have had the opportunity to venture into different disciplines and came to realize the potential my research has in the development of new technologies in the healthcare sector, thus I joined am doing an MSc in Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technologies at UCL. My goal is to develop materials and manufacturing methods to fabricate implantable and wearable healthcare devices
Summary
Muskuloskeletal problems caused by arthritis and osteoporosis are the most widespread problem in human health. Additionally, over a lifetime, bones, and joints are exposed to high degrees of wear. Thus, over 2.5 million orthopedic implant replacement procedures were performed in the UK in the last 15 years. Nonetheless, despite the technology advancements implant failure rate is still around 15% principally due to poor osseointegration or infection. In this project, I developed a wireless pH measuring device to understand how implant infections come to place and help to prevent them.
